This publishing house was founded in 1998 in Montreal by two booksellers, Martin Brault and Frédéric Gauthier, in Montreal at a time when comics were experiencing upheavals. La Pastèque aims to offer a medium of expression to Quebec illustrators and screenwriters who wish to get started in comics, bring together the work of authors from several countries and different backgrounds and promote Quebec comics.
